Happy Chinese New Year.
We are very grateful to Mrs Fong who has sent us all a Fortune Cookie to celebrate!
We have lots to celebrate this week as “Congratulations” go to Jasmine Sawyers who gained a Silver Medal at the Youth Olympics at Innsbruck. Her Mum and Dad were there to watch. I believe she was piped to the post and missed the Gold medal by a fraction of a second.
Well done Jasmine we are all very proud of you.
We look forward to hearing all about your success when you return to England and have a break in your studies.
It is a busy week on the sporting front; the Cross Country Team is out at Bedstone College later in the week.
The Voluntary Gymnasts are out at St Dominic’s Brewood on Thursday and are defending Champions.
We wish both teams lots of success.
On Tuesday PP2 are leading Assembly to which parents and carers are most welcome.
On Friday we have the RNLI SOS appeal when we focus on the work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. All the children are asked to donate £1 during our “Under-the-Sea” themed day.
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we celebrate the Lunar New Year and welcome in the Year of the Dragon, I would like to express my best wishes to all Chinese Singaporeans that this feast may bring about happiness and joy for you and your families.
Joy is an expression of being in harmony with ourselves. To truly be in harmony with ourselves, we must also be in harmony with God, with others and with nature.
The dragon is a symbol of power and good fortune. As we welcome the Year of the Dragon, let us share our success with those less fortunate and use our “power” to look beyond our own needs and serve the greater good.
This year, let us focus on honouring God through respect for His Creation, respect for the dignity of the human person and the life of the unborn child.
In addition, let us offer together our prayers for the Church in China that Chinese Catholics may be witnesses to the love that Jesus has shown us.
Wishing you all a joy-filled Chinese New Year!
Yours in Christ
Archbishop Nicholas Chia
