Week beginning 19/04/10

Welcome back to the new term.  We still have some members of the school community stuck in far flung places.  All of our teaching staff are back in school but Mrs Suhaimi is still stuck in Malaysia.  We hope that she gets back safely when she is able to.

This week on Thursday 22nd April we will have our skipping day.  Please remember that everyone who is taking part needs to come to school in their PE kits and track suits.

This Friday, 23rd April, it is St. George’s Day and we will be talking about him in Assembly.  Also on Friday our Eco Monitors will be taking part in City Wide Clean Up and we will be litter picking around our school and raising awareness in school about keeping our environment litter free.

Captain Ben Harrop extends his thanks to all who supported him at the Masquerade Ball.  Over £300 was raised towards the Star and Garter Home for retired and injured ex Service Men and Women.  Ben runs the London Marathon on Sunday in full kit carrying his 60lb pack.  Look out for him - he is hoping to break the world record for this which currently stands at 6 and a half hours.  Ben has recently done a second tour in Afghanistan.

Looking ahead to the next two weeks:

Don't forget we have a day-in- lieu next Friday 30th April before the May Day Bank holiday on Monday 3rd May.  School will be closed on these two days.

On Wednesday 5th May, it is the Feast day of Blessed Edmund Rice and we will have Mass at 10am at St Teresa's RC Church, Trent Vale.  All are welcome to come.  The Edmund Rice Novena is this Year based on the theme of "Healing and Reconciliation" and the Bible verse to focus on is: "Behold I am with you all days, even to the end of time." (Matthew 28:20)
